British Gas has become the latest of the Big Six energy companies to be smeared by misleading thousands of customers via face to face sales. The UK's largest energy supplier has confirmed that they will be paying out compensation to all their customers whom were supplied with incorrect data when switching onto their tariffs branded as Sainsbury's Energy But provided by British Gas team members through a partnership deal. It has now become apparent that the company misled an estimated 4,300 customers, through being given inaccurate information about the savings they were likely to make. The energy supplier has now paid an estimated £500,000 spread between the 4,300 mis led customers, but in comparison with other mis selling cases such as E.ON being fined £12m these figures are relatively small. Worryingly British Gas had even prided its self as being one of the only large UK energy companies to of not mis sold energy tariffs. Neither Ofgem, British Gas or Sainsbury's have issued a comment.
