Gas Boiler ban by 2035: Heat Pumps vs Electric Radiators
You may of heard the UK government plans for a 2035 ban on all new gas boilers. So what are the options?
Well the UK government is pushing for heat pumps but are they really the best low carbon alternative to heat our homes?
Heat pumps still use electricity
It is important to remember that heat pumps still use electricity to extract the warm air! With electricity costing around 14p per kWh It is estimated that a heat pump running cost could be around £560 per year. This figure probably doesn’t sound too dissimilar from your gas bill. Ofgem states the average household spends approximately £636 on gas heating each year.
With only 37,000 heat pumps fitted throughout UK homes compared to the 2.2 million homes with electric heating we’ll let those numbers speak for themselves. With affordable upfront costs, quick and nonintrusive installation, zero maintenance and superior controllability it is not surprising why electric heating comes out on top as the low carbon favourite.
Overhaul your heating with the best electric electric radiators
Electric radiators provide the ultimate control when it comes to making the switch to a low carbon system. Efficient and cost effective, households have the option of making the switch gradually doing it room by room vs searching to find the time and money to install a costly heat pump within their home and garden.
