Goverment pushes on wtih fracking plans despite immense resistance
Monstrous opposition to the UK governments forecast of rolling out fracking throughout Britain was declared by interest groups via an official report, results of which were released just a day after ministers gave the green light to shale gas drilling right across the country. The Department of Energy and Climate Change released a summary on the governments Strategic Environmental Assessment of it's roll out to nationwide fracking. It included a vast array of objection from official bodies such as Natural England and the Public Health England.
The government has since pushed these popular concerns to one side and pressed on. It's important to note that these arrangements do not exclude national parks from being drilled for shale gas nor does it protect any wildlife sites... Rather worrying some might say. Natural England severely challenged this on the basis that there had been no assessment as to how fracking plans conflicted with European laws which protect important habitats.
This has not altered the governments decision to continue in full swing with ministers now welcoming bids from fracking companies to explore large proportions or Britain. It was said that fracking amongst national parks would be made more complex through new planning conduct. It has come to light that these outlines are repeated virtually word for word to the safeguards already implemented. Vast areas are now unfortunately open to fracking including 10 of the UK's 13 major national parks.
