UK windfarms raise new power production record
Figures released from the national grid last week showed that 43% of Britain's homes were powered by wind last sunday. National grid figures showed that an average of 7.31 GW of power was fabricated via wind farms. Breaking a new record for Britain on their previous achievement of 7.23GW
It remains a controversial subject in terms of the knock on effect wind farms can have on house prices. A recent Canadian study however rejected these claims maintaining that wind turbines has no effect on property values of nearby homes. The research was conducted by the University of Guelph in Ontario.
Research undertaken by Accent for the Energy Institute displayed that 61% of people would agree to the erection of a wind turbine or indeed several wind turbines in under a 5 mile radius to their property.
Controversially 24% of individuals would welcome a gas extraction site with feasible fracking functioning nearby. Just 18% support local nuclear power generation, with the only alternative technology being favoured was solar panels.
